The Beaumont Art League will host  its 3D, Classic Nude and Portrait show, May 7 through May 21. Winners will be announced at the opening reception, May 13, 7 pm to 9 pm.

A maximum of three entries per artist will be accepted  per artist. Entry fee for BAL members is $10 per entry; non-members are $25 per entry.

Artwork entered must reflect the focus of this show — three dimensional works/ sculpture and reliefs, which are defined as 2D forms of art that contain varying degrees of raised or projected visual elements from the surface.

Another requirement of this show is that artwork submitted under the portrait category. The work could be a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is pre­­­­dominant.

This is a juried show. All entered work must have been completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited in a BAL show or any juried shows in Jefferson, Orange or Hardin counties.

Work must be original, not reproductions. For photography, limited edition prints are accepted. Work must fit through the 102”×66” building entrance to the building and be a reasonable weight for volunteers to handle. Fragile works, such as drawings and photographs, must be framed or securely mounted under glass or Plexiglas. All works should be ready for installation upon submission.

If the work requires special installation, the artist must install it under the supervision of gallery staff.

Works must remain on view at BAL during the entire show.

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas is offering its annual Summer ArtVentures Camp for Creative Kids, June 13 through July 15.

This summer’s line-up of week-long, half-day workshops, and one week-long, full-day workshop, features clay making, bookmaking, paper mache, painting and much more, all taught by local, professional artists.

Summer ArtVentures is offered Monday through Friday with two workshops a day. Morning classes are from 9 a.m. to noon. Afternoons are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m  Teen classes are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Children, ages 5-15, choose from many class options for a high quality, intensive art education experience. All courses are taught by professional artists, and the participants work closely with these respected artists in a variety of mediums.

Campers are divided into three age groups, with each course designed for age-appropriate art activities

• Young ArtVenturers — children ages 5-7 — will have the opportunity to sample clay, paint, paper mache, and colored pens and pencils through simplified projects formatted for their age group. These classes will be augmented with story times (using art-related stories) and outdoor activities.

• Summer ArtVenturers — children ages 8-11 — have many exciting courses to choose from including clay making, painting, mixed media and other activities.

• TeenVentures in Art — Keep your teens active and engaged in making art; a valuable life skill. TeenVentures in Art is a special week, July 5-July 8, for 12 to 15 year olds interested in exploring new and original techniques for creating three-dimensional clay artwork.

“Summer ArtVentures is a great opportunity for children and teens interested in art to learn from participating artists,” Christle Feagin, AMSET curator of education/programs, said.

The cost for Summer ArtVentures is $75 for members, $135 for non-members for the first child’s first class, $75 for each additional child and then $70 for each additional class. The non-member fee includes a one-year family membership. Scholarships are also available.

AMSET is located at 500 Main St. in downtown Beaumont.
