There are times when you learn how many people are truly dedicated and devoted to The Studio and how many friends are there to help in times of need. A special thanks to my staff and volunteers for holding down The Studio and keeping it running while I was “in the shop”.
Three months ago, I began a journey to repair my heart. My current stints in my heart had collapsed and were blocked with plaque, thus the surgery. This is my third round of repairing my heart and all I have to say is, “Thank goodness for technology!” My surgeon, Dr. Arain is the best in the field. I am a very lucky person! The procedure was challenging, but went without a hitch. Another three weeks of recovery and then I contracted Covid for an additional two weeks. This has been the longest time that I’ve spent away from The Studio and I would have worried except for two young ladies and a young man who held down the fort while I was gone. Kris Movva and Jessica Jennings along with Vance Bourg all worked to keep The Studio running and functional. It was such a great feeling that I could recover with the peace of mind knowing I have good people behind me when the going gets tough.
My thanks to our Board of Directors, my Staff and all the volunteers who make this organization what it is: a human experiment exploring the visual world expressed through our own eyes.
In these times, Community is a powerful word. Visual artists work in communities, be it the community of ceramists, or community of printmakers or any other discipline in which artists find themselves.
There is another community – the community of Patrons. As you enjoy the art and writings and performances of our creative beings, remember that these activities take time, materials, equipment, and a facility in which to build or perform their art. We can maintain our facility through generated income from art sales, classes, studio space, workshops, and outreach programs. Your donations help us with materials for the art shows, maintenance of facility, prep for exhibitions, supplies for classes, and to cover our utilities.
Let me put it this way: The Art Studio, Inc. is a wholly independent arts organization that is funded mostly by public donations and is granted funds for special programs through local foundations. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization in the state of Texas.
