Make plans to attend The Art Studio’s summer ARTSkool for ages 10 and up. Week 1 will be held July 23-27, and  week 2 will be held July 30-Aug. 3. Morning classes are 9 a.m. to noon, and afternoon classes are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Each session is $100, and $200 for all-day sessions. Activities include papier mâché, mixed media, printmaking, ceramics, film photography, drawing and color theory.

Voting continues at the Museum of the Gulf Coast for the Gulf Coast Community Art Show. Judging and awards will be given during the Family Fun Day, March 10. The Museum of the Gulf Coast is located at 700 Proctor St. in downtown Port Arthur.

The Lutcher Theater and Shangri La Botanical Gardens announce that Symphony at Shangri La featuring the Symphony of Southeast Texas has been rescheduled for 5 p.m., March 25. The event was postponed from its original date due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey. All are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic lunch to soak up the alluring sights and sounds of spring and the performing arts at sunset.

The Symphony of Southeast Texas, conducted by Maestro Chelsea Tipton, returns to Shangri La Gardens in the spring to indulge patrons with a festive evening of seasonal nature and magnificent music. New this year, the program will feature soprano soloist Abigail Dueppen.

Shangri La Gardens is located at 2111 W. Park Avenue in Orange and is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas will host the annual Go for the Gold fundraiser at 6:30 p.m., March 8. This year’s Go for the Gold is royally themed, and everyone is encouraged to attend dressed in crowns and tiaras.

One ticket admits one entry into reverse drawing with a chance to win third place prize: $1,000 in gold, second place prize: $1,500 in gold, and first place prize: $10,000 in gold. Winners need not be present to win. The gold prizes are given in American Eagle coins and have value that depends on the price of gold and value on the collectors’ market.

One ticket also includes two admissions for a party with dinner by Green Light Kitchen and an open bar serving the signature drink, the Crown Jewel.

All proceeds benefit AMSET’s exhibitions and educational programs. This year’s Go for the Gold fundraiser is chaired by Kit Ohmstede and Jo Vance.

Only 450 tickets will be sold to maximize participants’ chance of winning; advance purchase is recommended.
