“Beings” by Brittney Drinkard showing in the Maudee Carron Gallery, May 4 – 25

I am from Sour Lake, Tx and studied fine art at Lamar University. I wanted to create a space of process and the interest of understanding forms. I would describe my work as expressive, and gestural. Possibly romantic, and at times chaotic. My Influences are my art professors from college. I still follow them. And my friends surrounding the art studio. Stephen Rousset, Kristen Drinkard, and Brittany Tanton, they have helped me to enjoy and edit along the way.

I want people to see my show similar to a sketchbook. I’ve always loved an artist’s sketchbook because it feels vulnerable. I want to express my process and how I explore mediums and materials.

I love the rush of creating something in pen and having to work through any mistakes you make. I also love the layers of watercolor, and the patience it takes is vital. Going back and forth between these mediums was exciting, and I really enjoyed creating this show.

Please join the artist for a free public reception on First Thursday.
