in the pop-up: Keira Devillier ‘Skin And Bone’ features anime-style portraits

By TASI assistant curator Michelle Cate

Being one of the youngest artists to show at The Art Studio, Keira Devillier is 15 years old. She has 8 years of experience in drawing and her earnest self-guided study of art is obvious.

Like many artistic young people her age, she is certainly in touch with the spirit of her generation, which is to say, she is very influenced by the pop culture of the internet, music, fashion and anime.

TASI Executive Director Greg Busceme, Sr. met Devillier at a fashion event she was attending and encouraged her to follow The Art Studio and submit her work as part of our Call to Artists over two years ago, pre-COVID era.

Needless to say, we are thrilled to finally be showing her work in our Pop Up Gallery.

Devillier is familiar with portraiture and usually draws faces, stylized or realistic, and is quite versatile. She has said in the past that if she goes somewhere with her art, she hopes it might be video game design, but we would not be surprised if it was in fashion.

While currently inspired by aesthetics, we think Miss Devillier is definitely onto something. Whether it ends up being art or not, we know her careful attention to detail will serve her well in the future.
