David Silvernail on his process:

“I’ve been woodcarving for 22 years. In the 1970’s I put ship models together as a relaxation technique. I moved on to clay sculpting which led to woodcarving. I carve different kinds of wood, cypress knees, books, whatever appeals to me.  Ideas, too, come from various sources.  While I don’t carve only to sell and I don’t do commissions, it pleases me when someone purchases a piece of my art. My association with The Art Studio has greatly inspired me to continue carving.”

“Snapping Turtle”

$150.00

“One of my favorite carving methods is realizing forms in found wood.  This turtle just begged to be formed in the found wood.”

Jane Silvernail on her process:

“Assemblage allows me to use time-worm, broken, discarded pieces to make new statements. Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese aesthetic of acceptance of imperfection while appreciating its beauty, is my work ethic. Using mainly cast off wood, metal and glass, I create a second chance for items to be celebrated in art. I’m also very adamant that we must be ecologically sensible for our survival on the planet.”

“Cigar Anyone?”

$100.00 SOLD

“This assemblage using an old metal form for chocolate cigars, is built with wood, glass, metal, and a painted canvas.  I have used some of my favorite items to intrigue viewers. “
