Jennifer Marion

Jennifer Marion, born and adopted in Shreveport, Louisiana, is an artist who uses her photographs to explore social structures and identity. She investigates her memory with nostalgia, and trauma with experiences from being an adoptee to motherhood.  Marion pulls her strengths from her long history of reluctant travels and internal conflicts. Never to be bound in one place, Marion’s works reflect the yearning for something new, often asking more questions than they answer.

Currently, Marion is finishing her BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Photography. She looks forward to a career in photography and enjoys adding to her ever growing portfolio. Her artwork aims to include the internal everyday struggles that are often overlooked by the ordinary.

Beau Walker

Facebook

Beau Walker is an eastern Kentucky native, and has recently relocated to Beaumont from coastal North Carolina.  He has explored many mediums, including but not limited to theatre, mural painting, drawing and writing.  He currently enjoys what he refers to as his “sketchy” style, using pencil, pen and ink.  “Life never stops moving, yet we seem to be able to observe ‘moments’ and ‘things.’ ” His artwork is an exploration of those very observations.

Caitie Lightfoot

My name is Caitie Lightfoot and I create skull and bone art. The name AfterLife Art comes from my use of skulls, bones and other dead/miscellaneous items and giving them another chance to be something beautiful.

You can find me on almost all social media platforms, which is also the best way to contact me about commissions.

Gail Binagia

https://www.instagram.com/gailbinagia.art/

A native Southeast Texan, Gail has degrees from Lamar University in Studio Art  and in Nursing.  Her work has been accepted into juried shows in Texas and Michigan, and can be found in the homes of fans from Beaumont to Houston. Many of her student works have been sold at Lamar University’s le Grand Bal. She enjoys the challenge of painting recognizable portraits that also express one’s personality.  Color palette and background details are used to create a unique portrait of each subject. Oil on canvas is her preferred medium for this event and photo references are used. Canvas size is from 8”x10” and larger. Because oil paintings are created in multiple layers that need drying time in between, it may take from one to two months to finish the portrait to perfection.

John Alexander

(409)-363-1422

My Name is John R. Alexander,  the Owner of J. Alexander Pottery Co. I’m a Potter and Sculptor and have been working with clay for 11 years . My work consists of both functional and non functional wares usually made with stoneware clay or porcelain clay. My main influences include eastern turn of the century Japanese pottery and contemporary work as well . I try to incorporate functionality with abstraction and naturalism as well . The part of the process I enjoy the most is exploring the different effects of glazes and the chemistry behind those glazes I use to achieve certain effects. There’s a lot of unknowns in ceramics constantly but that’s what keeps me going….. I enjoy never knowing quite how a piece will look when it comes out of the kiln . I’m currently pursuing my BFA at Lamar University and a sculpture major . My goal is to then get my MFA in ceramics and to become a full time professor of ceramics or sculpture. I take commissions and can certainly make anything from a batch of coffee mugs a certain color etc up to a 3’ planter/vase and pretty much anything in between. My studio is located at 810 North M L King Jr. PKWY .

James Allen King

jamesallenking@gmail.com

Taking commissions for small stained glass succulents. Each one is made by hand to suit the desire of the person who will own this tiny piece of art. A loop can be added so that it can be hung in a window.

Kelli LeBeouf

Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From drawing on the back of worksheets in Kindergarten, to sitting in my room filling up sketchbooks with drawings of horses. I really began to develop a passion for art in high school. I had the best art teachers, always supportive and encouraging, which led me down the path of also becoming an art educator. I have been teaching art for 13 years now, completing my 4th at Vidor High School. In my free time I would work on personal artwork, but it wasn’t until I started teaching high school, that the passion was really reignited. Art is not only something I love to do, but it’s also my therapy, allowing me to step out of the real world for a while. My main focus right now is portraiture, which actually started off as a challenge. Drawing faces, and capturing expressions was difficult, but also fascinating. I continue to draw and paint daily, hoping to always keep improving.

Masks by Thomas

Thomas Davis is a Beaumont local who takes his creativity in all directions. He has participated in The Merchant Soirée selling his crafts, whether it would be handmade jewelry, spray paintings, paper quilling art, or many other art styles he tries his hand at. He has performed at the Beaux Art Ball as a locally well-known drag performer, Sara Cha. His artistic abilities have also allowed him to become a professional cake decorator and now, to fulfill a need, another style of art: mask-making. He has been featured in The Beaumont Enterprise, KFDM Fox 4 News, VIP magazine, Cat5, and various Blog sites.

Thomas started making masks at the end of March when the bakery that he manages temporarily closed down due to COVID-19. He learned how to sew about 3 years ago when he started making his own outfits for Sara Cha. Now he uses that knowledge to help produce face masks to people nationwide. Using his Bachelor’s degrees in Business Marketing and Communications Advertising, his sewing hobby has all of a sudden turned into a full blown business. Masks by Thomas offers over 150 different patterns to choose from. He gets many great reviews for his craftsmanship and fast processing turnaround time. To check out his shop on Etsy.

Brandie Almedia Ryan

Almedia0708@gmail.com

I currently live in Silsbee, Texas with my husband and 2 gorgeous teens where I’m working out of my garage/studio. Up until a few months ago, I was a full time choreographer for a local high school and after a couple of dance injuries (the last taking a good hit), looks like I’ll be hanging up my dancing shoes for some time. I also helped teach art to special need students and LOVED it! Truly talented and beautiful minds! Being a full time coach at a school, you don’t  really have time to create anything personal (no regrets), but I did do some murals for local schools and churches over the last several years. Now, with having a little more time and wanting to put it on canvas here we go: I studied Dance and Art for a period of time at Lamar and still love to learn new techniques and experiment with new mediums. My paintings are usually heavily textured with lots of movement that I achieve with palette knife-I rarely use brushes. I also mix techniques like hydro dipping and acrylic pouring in with most of my work. I have been very blessed to meet, learn, and work with some wonderful people over my lifetime and can’t wait to see who else comes along.

Kaitlynn E Head

Greenkaitlynn@ymail.comHttps://www.facebook.com/kaitlynnelette Or Kaitlynn Elette on instagram

I am a self-taught artist, deriving from two generations of artists. Growing up, I would watch my dad create amazing pieces of art that told stories and listen to him tell me about stories he heard as a child and watching my grandmother paint. As a kid, I would ask him to show me how to draw different subjects until one day he told me, “Katey, I can’t teach you to draw, you have to draw what you see in order to have your own style. If you really want to do it, you can do it on your own.” I have never forgotten his words. His stories and artwork inspired me to become the best artist that I can be and to inspire others. Today, my artwork is constantly changing and always in transition, because I will never be done learning. I work with clay, pencil, acrylic, oil and watercolor in order to tell stories of history long forgotten and stories to touch the soul through symbolism. It is my hope that within my artwork, that the viewers will find the story as it applies to their own soul, whether it be through history or the story of a damsel in distress. I hope to make a difference if not in the world, at least through theirs by connecting with them.

Victor Higginbotham

For more than 40 years, artist Victor Higginbotham has produced art for both commercial and fine art clients. His experiences living in the 60’s Southern California art environment and his family’s Cajun heritage influenced his Pop Art paintings sculptures and prints. His work has been used regionally as well as nationally.

“I became enamored with artists such as Peter Max, Joan Mirò, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and poster artists Rick Griffin, Stanley Mouse and Texas artist Boyd Elder”. It was during his time in California that  he became interested in African and Mexican Folk art,  which has a strong influence on his work in color and design. “I get more interested sometimes in just the colors and designs taking over what I do. I love Pop Art for the idea that ordinary objects; natural or man made can have a artistic personality.”

Victor returned to Southeast Texas attending Lamar University, earning a bachelors Degree in illustration and graphic design. His professors encouraged him to experiment with different styles and media.

Graduating in1975, Victor began his career in Beaumont before moving  to Dallas in 1981 and worked as a free lance designer and illustrator. At this time the computer graphics became more of a tool in his work and developed his digital art. In 1985 Victor moved to Houston to continue his career working with a wide range of clients from individual to corporations.

In 1993 he co-founded Litigation Art Works, a design studio specializing in courtroom graphics. He worked in Houston until 2008 when Hurricane Ike destroyed his home and studio on Bolivar Peninsula.

A former director on the board of Houston Society of Illustrators and a current director on the board of Southeast Texas Arts Council, Victor retired from his graphic design and illustration career and is primarily working on his fine art from his family’s home in China, where he has built a new studio. His work now mainly consists of paintings, digital art, hand made tables, paper mȃché and found object sculptures.

Victor credits his growth and success to friends in Houston, as well as local art supporters. Greg Busceme of The Art Studio, Ed Grissom of Logon Cafe and Chris Jetton of The Music Studio. Samples of his artwork are available at The Logon Cafe in Beaumont.

Victor’s work can also be found on facebook.com/ VHCreative and Cajunstudio on Instagram.

Joy Wallace

My love for painting began when I was thirteen years old, painting flowers from my mother’s flower garden.  Later, as a student at Baylor University, I minored in art and explored ceramics.  After moving to Beaumont, I was a student of the renown James Black.  Later, I was fascinated by local history, painting scenes of early Beaumont and historical homes.  I now find inspiration in acrylic paintings of abstract florals, landscapes and still life.  I hope to inspire happiness, movement, and joy in my paintings.
