“Grasping Signals” paintings by Keri Dowers exhibiting at TASI’s Main Gallery in October

The Art Studio, Inc. (TASI) will host an exhibition of paintings by Keri Dowers during the month of October. TASI will hold a reception for the exhibit on Saturday, October 1st from 7-10 p.m., which is free and open to the public. The exhibition is titled “Grasping Signals”.

Vidor native Dowers attended Lamar University in Beaumont where she studied studio art with an emphasis in painting.

“My work is usually expressive, playful, sometimes thoughtful sometimes carefree,” the artist stated.

Dowers’ main influences are Danica Lundy and David Altmeid who she discovered through Instagram.

“They both share a modern gritty confidence and impressive unique style and techniques,” she said. “It’s inspiring.”

The Art Studio’s galleries, located at 720 Franklin St. in Beaumont, are open for viewing by the public from noon to 5pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

“I’ve been watching Keri’s work for many years and the time was right to see her exhibit with us,” TASI Executive Director Greg Busceme said. “I’ve been impressed with her skill and her ability to draw in such a fine way. It’s very unique and exciting.”

Dowers hopes her work helps people realize that “at any moment, lightning could strike”

She said, “Take notice of what you’ve got in your hands, or what they can do even.”
