High Street Gallery to host Marse photography

“Into the Fog” by Madison Marse

The High Street Gallery will host an exhibition of black and white photographs by Madison Marse, 7-10 p.m., Sept. 22. The gallery is located in Victoria House, 2110 Victoria St. in Beaumont.

“Nearing the end of High Street Gallery’s final season we are honored to be hosting Madison’s first solo show,” Olivia Busceme, gallery director, said. “Her photographs are thought provoking and visually poetic which leaves the viewer with an air of mystery.”

Marse’s main influences in art have been Sally Mann, Robert Frank and Francesca Woodman. She describes her compositions as “sporadic, candid, nostalgic, and sometimes creepy.”

Entry is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available at the event. The exhibition will be on display for one night only, and the work will be for sale by the artist.

Marse is a member of The Art Studio Inc’s Darkroom Friends group and works mainly in black and white photography.

“I was never really educated in any kind of art. I guess you could say I’m self-taught,” said Buna-native Marse.

“I just want people to feel something when looking at my pictures.”
